Outside My Window ~ 11.10.2013
Outside my window…is a chilly but beautiful morning. When I took Turbo out for his walk it was 45°F with plenty of sunshine and clear, blue skies. We were actually a little warmer than yesterday when we experienced what I would say was our first hard frost. The temperature when I went out for a walk at 6:30 am was 35°F. The cars, rooftops and grass were covered in frost. The mornings have been chilly while the days have been generally mild with temperatures ranging from the low 50’s to mid 60’s. We did have a few days since I last posted in the low to mid 70’s which were not too…

Outside My Window ~ 11.25.2012
Outside my window..is a beautiful albeit chilly day. We had blue skies, sunshine and very brisk temperatures today. During my first dog walk at 7:45 this morning, it was 28°F….four hours later it was 39°F. Fortunately the winds are calm, unlike yesterday. I don’t believe it was this chilly, but it was cold….and windy. Our forecast high today was 47°F. Tonight will be chilly once again at 33°F. If you are to believe the forecast it looks as if Monday will be our warmest day at 58°F, the rest of the week will be much like today….easing into winter it appears. I don’t mind a few good hard frosts to…

Outside My Window ~ 11.11.2012
Outside my window…is the closing hours on a fabulous weekend in Southeast Virginia. You couldn’t ask for two better days this weekend ~ blue skies, sunshine and mild temperatures. We are expecting rain by Tuesday and more seasonal temperatures. At 10:00 this evening it is 57°F with clear skies and little to no wind. Temperatures are suppose to stay around the mid 50’s all night and back up into the low 70’s tomorrow. I am thinking…those folks in the Northeast have probably had enough weather for a long while. On top of the weather woes they have to deal with long lines for gas….if they can find any. I imagine…

Outside My Window ~ 10.28.2012
Outside my window…is a dreary, rainy, windy, chilly, miserable morning. Yup, I think that about covers it. We are awaiting the arrival of Hurricane Sandy sometime tomorrow but because the storm is so huge, we are getting a taste of what is to come for now. The rain started late yesterday afternoon….the wind began about that time too. It rained all night….not torrential downpours, just a steady rain…and the wind really picked up the pace sometime in the early morning hours. Right now, at 9:00 Sunday morning, it is 59°F and the winds are at 19 mph, gusting to 32 mph from the northeast. The front that moved across the…

What I See
Yesterday was quite foggy in Hampton Roads….when I left my house it was really dense….almost too dense. The fog lightened up quite a bit the closer I got to Williamsburg and I got an idea. I travel down the Colonial Parkway during the last leg of my drive to work. It is always a beautiful drive but one of the things I love about the parkway is the fact there are no traffic lights and I can count on one hand the number of cars I see on my way to work each morning. I carry my point and shoot camera with me so I decided to take a couple…

Scenes from Lake Matoaka
While I was out and about the other day taking the photograph of Lake Matoaka for my desktop calendar, I took a few extras… The Lake Matoaka Amphitheater…the sky is totally blown out on this image, but I like it… ….and a view from the stage…

Outside My Window ~ 11.6.2011
Outside my window…is the first evening after daylight savings time ended. It is about ten minutes until eight but it feels much later than that. It has been dark forever….how can it not even be 8:00 yet?!?! It is currently 48°F with calm winds. Calm winds were not the norm around here this past weekend. The last nor’easter that visited and quickly pulled away on Friday left a path of heavy winds all day Saturday. Today wasn’t as bad but still breezy….especially near the James River late this afternoon. We warmed up to about 60°F today which is close to average for the area. Looks like we will stay in…
