Outside My Window ~ 7.31.11
Outside my window…is a warm, cloudy morning. Currently at 10:45 this morning, it feels like 88°F out although the actual temperature is 85°F. Not too bad outside actually….it is a bit muggy but then it is summer in Hampton Roads ~ muggy and humid is a given for this time of year. Our forecast high is 90°F and we do have a chance for thunderstorms today and this evening. I noticed on the weather channel this morning there is a rather large green, orange and red blob moving our way…could be our chance of storms perhaps? This has been one of the hottest summers I can recall in some time. {do we say that every year?} This…

Things that made me smile this week…
Home-cooked goodness at my mom’s house… Dress found…no more shopping…sweet… 😉 Backyard ducks…. Seeing my tomatoes multiply… A bloom from a plant that made it through the winter in the house when I had my doubts… Gazing at my fountain as I enjoyed a backyard corner filled with jasmine… Fungi enjoying a new hangout… Welcoming back old friends…. What made you smile this week? 🙂

Blooming
I brought my hibiscus plant inside not too long ago. The temperatures at night were getting below their comfort zone. They won’t survive the winter outside in my region. It is doing wonderfully in the house by my back door. And blooming inside now. I love waking up to these beautiful blooms. They make me smile.

Things That Made Me Happy This Week
Fresh tomatoes…… The fact that the drought hasn’t killed my hibiscus plant. My harvest of lavender…all dried and smelling so divine! My sunflowers.

Like A Flower
Life is sometimes like a flower. Take my hibiscus plant for instance…. I start out my day….. fresh….ready….looking good. And then I get home from work…… ….and I’m feeling a bit tired and wilted. Fortunately I don’t wither completely away. 🙂 How do you feel at the end of your day? Many thanks to I Brake For Bokeh for ‘When The Hurley Burley’s Done’ Lightroom Preset.

Tropical Soup
The heat and humidity these past few days has been brutal. This is typical weather for this area, but generally a little later in the season. I noticed that Sunday was a good ten degrees above the norm. I can usually deal with the heat…but when you add a good dose of humidity, it turns the air into a tropical soup. Miserable. I spent a good part of this evening watering my plants and flowers with rain barrel water. I used a decent amount of the water reserves this evening…..I hope we get some rain soon. It may cool things off. Thanks to Shadowhouse Creations for the free textures used on the wind chimes image ~ 1000…

Outside My Window ~ 5.16.10
Outside My Window…is a beautiful, sun shiny day right now. Current temperature at 1:20 is in the mid 70’s with rain expected later this afternoon or evening. We also have a chance of thunderstorms later. Thunderstorms have been the norm the past few evenings around here and last night was no exception. The claps of thunder were so loud they woke me from a very deep sleep….and as each daughter came out of their room this morning they asked if I heard the thunder last night. It was as if powerful explosions were going off right outside the house…..and then the rains came pouring down. I am thinking…since I have set…
