Outside My Window ~ 5.1.2011
Outside My Window…is another Sunday winding down as the sun sets and the light fades. At 7:20 this evening, the temperature is 62°F with very low humidity. When I went outside early this morning it was quite cool ~ probably about 50°F although I didn’t verify that, just my best guess. Our high here was 70°F…but I wasn’t here to experience the day, I spent my day in Shawboro, North Carolina where it was equally as gorgeous. I am glad…I took the trip to the little town of Shawboro today. This was the first Sunday in May, the day the Sanderlin family reunion is held each year. I’m not certain how many years they have…

The Turning Tide
The weekend before last, I was invited to stay a few days at the beach with my brother and his family. The house was huge….and gorgeous! Located at mile post 15.5 on Beach Road, The Turning Tide was a perfect place for a getaway. The house featured a rec room with a pool table, private pool and hot tub, six bedrooms and full baths. Here is a little tour….. As you enter on the ground floor…. ….you first see the Rec Room. There is a bedroom and bath as well. Turn left, the downstairs foyer and up the stairs to the second level… ….which features a sitting area. There is a door…

6 + 305
An amazing sunset over Oregon Inlet…located on Hatteras Island… which is part of the Outer Banks, North Carolina. Notice the sea gull chilling on the post. As of today, I made it 6 months with a post a day. Every day….6 months. Woo Hoo! 🙂 I was worried I would make it through one month. Six more to go…. Hmmmmmm…I’m hopeful. Oh….and I made it to 305 posts. Can’t believe 300 went by and I missed it. Sigh.

Outside My Window ~ 6.27.10
Outside My Window…is far more heat than I want to deal with. At 4:00 p.m. it is 97ºF but it feels like 102ºF when you factor in the dew point. I arrived home from the Outer Banks a short time ago and had to unload my car in this heat. Absolutely miserable outside…..with no relief in site. Tomorrow is suppose to be 99ºF. To make matters worse, there has been no measurable rain in over a week. We are literally baking. I know some may be thinking ‘well it is summer’ but considering our average for this time of year is the mid 80’s….it is horrible. I will water my poor baked…

Road Trip ~ Part I
While it has been a month since I took my trip to South Carolina, I have yet to post my photos from the trip as I promised. I thought I should break it up into different posts because there are quite a few photos I would like to share with you. When I planned the trip, I decided I wanted to take a road less traveled to the interstate. Well, actually the road is a four lane route and fairly well traveled, but it takes you through Suffolk, Franklin and Emporia. There are a few other smaller towns in between these that require you to slow down to 35 mph when…

Catawba, South Carolina
I’m online this afternoon Googling Catawba, South Carolina for our upcoming trip. My father and step-mother have just moved to this area, and while I know it is relatively close to Charlotte, North Carolina…..and they have a new home to explore….that is about all I know about it. I have never spent much time in South Carolina…..generally driving through it to go somewhere else….so this will be a new experience for me. I have discovered the Catawba Indian Nation is in Catawba. Isn’t that convenient since their names are the same! 🙂 It is home to a group of Native American potters…..in fact one that has supposedly survived for…

Outside My Window ~ 5.3.09
Outside My Window…is a rather gloomy looking morning. Temps are at 63 degrees, cloudy with some fog lingering outside. Our forecast today does not improve as the day goes on ~ chance of thunderstorms. I am thinking…about an old friend this morning, Shaun Sargent. I received news last night that he has passed after suffering a heart attack and lapsing into a coma about a week ago. While I say he was an “old” friend, he was actually a few years younger than I am. I met him in 1985 when I moved from Denver to Dallas. Shaun was a longtime friend of my ex-husbands and opened his home…
