Outside My Window ~ 11.28.2011
Outside my window…is a Monday rather than a Sunday. Maintenance on the sight last night prevented me from posting when I wanted to….I was exhausted and decided it would need to wait until today. 🙂 I worked hard during the holidays and my time off….from preparing a Thanksgiving dinner from start to finish for the first time in over twenty years to my endless fall cleaning to putting up and decorating the Christmas tree. The holiday started off rather cool but ended unseasonably warm. Our average for this time of year is 57°F….our high temperature yesterday was 70°F. Currently {at noon} it is 71°F….and our high is forecast for 70°F ~ hmmmm…looks like they will need to amend that forecast. Tomorrow there will be just a little drop in the temperature and showers will arrive. I was thinking as I posted my photograph that accompanies this post each week that it will soon be changing to a winter scene….hard to believe it will soon be winter with the temperatures so warm right now.
I am thinking about…my list of things to do and my accomplishments this past weekend…I’m tired…a little sore in fact….but satisfied that I got so much completed. One of my accomplishments was getting the tree up and decorated….the Christmas photograph which will go on the Christmas card is closer to becoming a reality. Now the real challenge comes….get everyone photo ready at the same time. I’m determined to get one this year…there could be bribes….or threats….we will see if I’m successful. 🙂
I am glad…my step-father will be able to go home from the rehabilitation facility today…he will be able to relax and finish recuperating in the comfort of their home. It has been a long time since he has been able to do that.
From my kitchen…a busy place this past weekend….from Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday to testing a few new recipes over the weekend {which I will share with you all in the coming days}…
I am going…to hopefully get the Christmas lights up outside late this afternoon. I thought as the girls got older they wouldn’t care as much about all of this…tree…decorations…except they do. They want it all as it has always been. The tree has evolved from a tree decorated with the older ornaments…they have been put away, waiting for the day when the girls will have their own home, their own tree to decorate. The colored lights and red poinsettias have been replaced with white ones…but I still put out the framed photo of two very small girls sitting on Santa’s lap. Some memories a mother just can’t let go of. 🙂
I am hearing…the ticking of my many clocks….the hum of the refrigerator….an otherwise quite house. I wouldn’t mind a little breeze right now so I could hear the wind chimes sing to me.
Plans for the week include…getting together with Hazel’s mom to decide on what photographs she wants to include on her custom designed announcement…visiting my step-father at home rather than the rehab facility….dentist appointment for the youngest this coming Friday.
One of life’s little moments…how the room lights up that first night when you turn on the Christmas tree and turn out all the other lights. Something magikal about that moment to me. 🙂
From my camera…pumpkins and fall leaves…with a French Kiss texture added….

Your dinner looks amazing. I always get so busy that once I get a picture of the table, I don’t seem to get any more. I think I got a couple of everyone at the table but it is always just so nuts with 16 people here, 5 of them were kids.
Kari & family spent the night on Wednesday. We had a wonderful day Thursday and then relaxed with Jen & her boyfrend, Kari, Tim & their kids and watch Christmas Vacation & the Princess Bride. It was a good day.

I know you enjoyed having your girls with you during the holiday…it does sound as if you had a good day. 🙂

The pictures of your food looks amazing. Especially the turkey!! I haven’t put up my tree yet, but that is the plan for this weekend. We need a little Christmas tree around these parts.

Thanks Brittany! Hopefully the tree will help brighten your days. 🙂
