Outside My Window ~ 10.11.09
Outside My Window…is a beautiful morning……sunny, blue skies and it was 57F at 7:30 this morning. There is a nice breeze blowing as well. I started this a bit later, but still quite beautiful outside. We are forecasted for a high of 72F and partly cloudy skies. The rest of this week doesn’t look so promising with a few showers forecast for each day. There are a few trees beginning to change in our area but not quite as beautiful as some of the photos I have seen of the Northeast areas.
I am thinking…how nice it was to see my friends Shelly and Bruce at P.F. Chang’s restaurant last night. It had been quite a few years since we had seen each other so it was fun playing catch up on each other’s lives and reminiscing about some old times. Plus we got to eat some pretty tasty food while we were at it. 🙂 If you enjoy Chinese food and there is a P.F. Chang’s in your area, you should definitely give it a try. But if you do, be sure to make reservations……waiting times during the peak times can be upwards to 3 hours without one!
I am thankful for…Alanna getting her first job. I was a little worried because of the state of the economy and so many people out of work, but she was able to find something that pays a good wage in our local mall. We were really pleased she was able to secure one in the mall because of the convenience to the bus line in town. That was kind of a requirement while searching for a job. She won’t be able to drive without an adult until December so she may be taking the bus on days when we cannot manage a ride for her. She has already requested we go car shopping next month. She has quite a bit saved and can purchase one now, but she is waiting until the time draws closer for her to actually legally drive it by herself. So many “firsts” happening…..I know it is an exciting time for her.
From the kitchen…is coffee at the moment…..later today will be tasty Chang leftovers. I’m still debating on what will be coming after that. I do have a couple of recipes I will be posting very soon…with visual aids. 🙂
I am creating…a better work and storage area for my supplies and products. This is something that is always ‘a work in progress’ around here. I’m always looking for ways to improve because of limited space in our tiny house.
I am going…to take and pick up Alanna from work today. Of course, there is the never ending list of chores which include cleaning house and doing laundry.
I am reading…nothing at the moment. I go through periods when I want to read any and every thing I can put my hands on…..other times, nothing seems interesting. I’m in my nothing seems interesting phase at the moment.
I am hoping…that Alanna has a great day at work………that I get all my chores accomplished……and that everyone is enjoying a beautiful fall day ~ or a spring day for my friends “down under”! 🙂
I am hearing…my wind chimes singing outside……the ticking of my many clocks…..my stomach growling ~ hmmmm, time to eat I think.
Around the house…is laundry to finish, plants to water, soap curing, clutter to round up and put away.
Plans for the week include…adding more photos to my Flickr site. I have added quite a few recently from our trip to Catawba, South Carolina in early August. There are a couple of product recipes I want to experiment with.
One of my favorite things…warm, crusty bread with a nice cheese….homemade chili…..fall comfort foods.
A picture I’d like to share with you…I ran across this image when I borrowed my mother’s old photo albums not too long ago. This is one I took many years ago. To some it will look like an old home…….to others ~ and you know who you are ~ this photo will mean so much more to you. This is the former Sanderlin Homestead, the home of my maternal grandparents. The house is long gone…..but my memories of this place live on forever…they are priceless…..

Having a lovely spring day here “Down Under” ! It has been the first dry day since the kids started school holidays a week ago. We have made plans to have a picnic on a local beach with friends in the morning.
I hope your daughter had a good day in work. It is always stressful finding your feet in a new job.
I hope you have an enjoyable fall day,
G

Hi Debbie, I LOVE Chinese food so much that I have to curb myself. 🙁 Do you make your own bread?
Alanna has so much to look forward to, what an exciting time for her please don’t worry too much.
I almost bought windchimes today, lovely big bamboo one with a deep clanging noise, on second thoughts – think I’ll go back for them…
That’s a lovely old photo – very atmosphereic, it’s a pity the house is gone.
Don’t work too hard!
