    Playing with Actions…

I ran across an amazing blog……Rita creates free actions and textures for Photoshop/Photoshop Elements/Lightroom at CoffeeShop….and she has giveaways too.   If you have any interest in editing/adding effects to  your photos, you definitely need to give her space a look.   This is a photo I took at my mothers Thursday evening as the sun was setting on that side of the house.  I used CoffeeShop Golden Vintage and CoffeeShop Burn plus old paper effect on PSE.   There are tutorials available for installing the actions and beautiful photo examples.  Rita is a talented artist and editor……take at look at some of her work at CoffeeShop.

    The Thin Place

I had mentioned that I was working on some digital art recently and that I would post one of my “creations” but wanted to look at it some more.  I thought I would give you a peek at what I have thus far…..I don’t think I will add any more layers to this, but that could change too. It is called “The Thin Place”.  Depending on your beliefs, it means different things.  To the Christian world, thin places are those spots you visit where the veil between heaven and earth are so thin you feel much closer to the spiritual realm.  Pagans or Celtic spiritualists believe it is a gateway of sorts to other…

    A Robin for Gina

By special request from Gina, over at The Baynhams……I present Sir Robin Redbreast.  Doesn’t he look quite smart sitting on the fence…..I’m sure he was wondering when I would leave so he could have his bath.  🙂 Visit Gina’s blog …..life for her and her family after immigrating to Australia.

    Sunshine and Sunflowers

When I came home Tuesday afternoon, I discovered my neighbor had removed a tree that had blocked the sun from my garden area for a decent portion of the day.  She had talked about taking it down but said she wasn’t going to do so until next year.  Now my sunflowers are getting pretty much all day sun, and they are loving it……. As with all my photos now, if you click on the photo, it will take you to another page to see a much larger image.  In this particular photo, if you look real close over the middle bloom, you can see the moon…..teeny tiny, but still there. …

    A Run Through The Neighborhood….

One of the nice things about running through your neighborhood is the sites you see……the different flowers, different wildlife, different ways people landscape their yards, and of course the people.  There is a couple (he is a massage therapist and personal trainer, she is a teacher) that gets up early and run….some mornings they are sitting on their porch enjoying a beverage afterwards and are always quick to shout  “hello, how are you” and “you’re looking good, keep up the great work” as I run past.  A little encouragement never hurt anyone! During my run this morning, I was thinking about what kind of post I could do today….and I thought why not…

Another Tuesday morning run……with something a little different

This morning I was out the door bright and early for my run.  It was about 15 minutes before many of the other runs of late, so it was still fairly dark outside, about a half an hour before sunrise.  The birds were awake and singing their welcome to the new morning.  Their songs were beautiful, and almost deafening.  It was as if they were all trying to out-sing each other.  I saw many robin redbreasts along my route……many of them in the street, scurrying or flying off as I approached.  I could pick out the soft cooing of the morning dove and the loud cackle of the blue jay.  I’m sure…

    Tuesday Morning Run

I walked outside this past Tuesday morning around 5:50…..I was working at home so I was able to “sleep in” a little bit longer.  This sunrise is the site that greeted me as I stepped out my door.  I’ll admit, not the most spectacular sunrise I have ever seen, but it reminded me of how many of these I have seen because I get up very early to run……..and how running has affected my life.  I started running “late” in life……..I was in my 40’s.  One summer morning when my daughter’s were in Colorado visiting their father, I woke up and decided to go for a run on the beach. …

    Wanted: Fresh Meat

Is it me or is this the weirdest idea ever for reality television?  I saw this on News of the Weird: Coming Soon to Reality TV: The CMT cable channel has scheduled an August start-up for “Runnin’ Wild … From Ted Nugent,” in which the rock singer, hunter and uninhibited gun advocate will spend five episodes training three novices on how to survive in the woods, and then, in the final episodes, Nugent and his 18-year-old son will go hunt them down, with the last one to avoid capture declared the winner. [Press Release from TedNugent.com, 4-2-09] So if I’m reading this right, the man who is going to hunt you down…

    Finally……

Finally….. I completed the corner of the flower bed on the side of the house yesterday.  That one little corner took as long to do as the entire rest of the bed!  Part of the reason, I was digging up a lot of small tree stumps and one very large red tip bush stump.  The bush died some time back but the stump has held fast for several years.  But yesterday ~ success! Yea baby, I feel like Hercules…..or I guess I should say Herculita.  🙂 Before……as well as the bush stump (see white arrow), all of the little Mimosa tree stumps needed to be removed.  I don’t know how these trees keep…
