Another Tuesday morning run……with something a little different
This morning I was out the door bright and early for my run. It was about 15 minutes before many of the other runs of late, so it was still fairly dark outside, about a half an hour before sunrise. The birds were awake and singing their welcome to the new morning. Their songs were beautiful, and almost deafening. It was as if they were all trying to out-sing each other. I saw many robin redbreasts along my route……many of them in the street, scurrying or flying off as I approached. I could pick out the soft cooing of the morning dove and the loud cackle of the blue jay. I’m sure…

Outside My Window ~ 5.31.2009
Outside My Window…is cloudy at the moment. The sun was peaking through earlier during my run but it appears as if the clouds have taken over for the most part now. Our forecast is for scattered thunderstorms today. I am thinking…about how relieved I am to finally finish all the major work in the flower beds this year. Now I just need to control the weeds, and I’m good to go. I worked outside yesterday (see my earlier blog post for photos) on some weeding maintenance in the corner garden where I removed the stump earlier this spring, and trying to get rid of some decorative grass that my neighbor…

Saturday Snapshots
I worked outside most of the day today…….pulling up lots of grass that suddenly appeared in the corner garden and tackling the front garden. I thought I would share some photos with you……. This is the corner garden I triumphantly removed the stump from several weeks back. The jasmine plant I put here is doing well…..loving the new home. And the violets too. Bottom right corner you can see the sunflowers. Here is another shot…… These are the sunflowers I planted from the seeds I received from The Great Sunflower Project I had posted earlier. I hope some of you sent off for them and yours are growing too. And check…

Tuesday Morning Run
I walked outside this past Tuesday morning around 5:50…..I was working at home so I was able to “sleep in” a little bit longer. This sunrise is the site that greeted me as I stepped out my door. I’ll admit, not the most spectacular sunrise I have ever seen, but it reminded me of how many of these I have seen because I get up very early to run……..and how running has affected my life. I started running “late” in life……..I was in my 40’s. One summer morning when my daughter’s were in Colorado visiting their father, I woke up and decided to go for a run on the beach. …

Outside My Window ~ 5.24.2009
Outside My Window…partly cloudy skies and 71 degrees at around 8:15 a.m.. We have a slight chance of late afternoon thunderstorms. Right now there is more sun than clouds but I think that will change as the day progresses. Humidity is pretty high ~ 89%. So far this weekend has been very nice and it looks like today and tomorrow won’t disappoint. I am thinking…about all the chores I want to get done this long weekend. Quite a bit to do, my spring cleaning and would like to attempt to get the kitchen painted if at all possible. It is small so it is a possibility I could work…

Outside My Window ~ 5.17.09
Outside My Window…is pouring rain right now. A strong cold front is moving through our area bringing lots of rain, wind and cooler temperatures. Guess I won’t be trimming the rose bushes today! I am thinking…about how I’m going to hem Alanna’s prom gown. It is a little bit too long for her, and HOLY COW, I just realized this Friday is the big day. I am thinking I need to move that to the top of my list of things to do!! I am thankful for…the fact I don’t have to go anywhere right now ~ re: see above pouring rain. 🙂 From the kitchen…I made a tasty…

Outside My Window ~ 5.10.09
Outside My Window…a beautiful morning……66 degrees outside right now, partly sunny skies and a light breeze. We had rain almost every evening this past week so everything looks so clean and green. I love this time of year when everything is blooming and green after a winter of naked trees and barren gardens. I am thinking…about the photos I would like to add to my Flickr photo stream. I haven’t added any since last week, but I have plenty to add. Finding the time is the issue……..hmmm, could be something I could do today perhaps. Check out that site, as well as the blog……..I have been putting this on there…

Wanted: Fresh Meat
Is it me or is this the weirdest idea ever for reality television? I saw this on News of the Weird: Coming Soon to Reality TV: The CMT cable channel has scheduled an August start-up for “Runnin’ Wild … From Ted Nugent,” in which the rock singer, hunter and uninhibited gun advocate will spend five episodes training three novices on how to survive in the woods, and then, in the final episodes, Nugent and his 18-year-old son will go hunt them down, with the last one to avoid capture declared the winner. [Press Release from TedNugent.com, 4-2-09] So if I’m reading this right, the man who is going to hunt you down…

Outside My Window ~ 5.3.09
Outside My Window…is a rather gloomy looking morning. Temps are at 63 degrees, cloudy with some fog lingering outside. Our forecast today does not improve as the day goes on ~ chance of thunderstorms. I am thinking…about an old friend this morning, Shaun Sargent. I received news last night that he has passed after suffering a heart attack and lapsing into a coma about a week ago. While I say he was an “old” friend, he was actually a few years younger than I am. I met him in 1985 when I moved from Denver to Dallas. Shaun was a longtime friend of my ex-husbands and opened his home…

Finally……
Finally….. I completed the corner of the flower bed on the side of the house yesterday. That one little corner took as long to do as the entire rest of the bed! Part of the reason, I was digging up a lot of small tree stumps and one very large red tip bush stump. The bush died some time back but the stump has held fast for several years. But yesterday ~ success! Yea baby, I feel like Hercules…..or I guess I should say Herculita. 🙂 Before……as well as the bush stump (see white arrow), all of the little Mimosa tree stumps needed to be removed. I don’t know how these trees keep…
