    Saturday afternoon in the backyard….

Headaches have been plaguing me in the mornings. I rarely get them…lately more often than normal. Could be from all the weather fronts moving through…high pressure….low pressure….and of course, work pressure. Throw in a cup of family illness…stir and bake overnight. A relatively easy day today….Saturday afternoon in the backyard…

    New Years Day

I was beginning to work on Outside My Window but wasn’t feeling it today at all.   I decided to post some shots of the first sunset of the new year instead.  Outside My Window will be here tomorrow.

    Outside My Window ~ 7.17.11

Outside my window…is the sun setting on another Sunday.  My how the weekends fly.  We had a couple of beautiful days but I didn’t get outside too much.  Right now it is 80°F with about 50% humidity…zero chance of rain this evening.  Our high was about 86°F today….not too bad for mid July.  We will be heating up to a high of 97°F by Thursday with a chance of thunderstorms for Wednesday and Thursday.  I noticed when I checked the Weather Channel there is a tropical storm brewing in the Atlantic…I probably should pay closer to the weather this time of the year.  It appears as if it will not be a…

    High Water and Birds

I stopped by the boat dock on my way home Thursday evening.  This is one of my favorite locations for shooting sunsets.  As I drove towards the river, I was surprised at how much standing water there was on the sides of the road.  I was even more surprised when I got to the river and saw how high the water was.  The dock I usually walk out on is totally under water.  I’m still not sure why the water level was so high…no storms or any reason that I have heard.  I mean, the Mississippi is flooding but this river is a long way from there.  I do know…

    Tropical Soup

The heat and humidity these past few days has been brutal.  This is typical weather for this area, but generally a little later in the season.  I noticed that Sunday was a good ten degrees above the norm.  I can usually deal with the heat…but when you add a good dose of humidity, it turns the air into a tropical soup.  Miserable. I spent a good part of this evening watering my plants and flowers with rain barrel water.  I used a decent amount of the water reserves this evening…..I hope we get some rain soon.  It may cool things off.  Thanks to Shadowhouse Creations for the free textures used on the wind chimes image ~  1000…

    Outside My Window ~ 5.30.10

Outside My Window…is a warm, hazy morning.  Currently it is 78ºF with 76% humidity and partly sunny skies.  The forecast high for today is 91ºF with a threat of thunderstorms.  This heat combined with high humidity equals a soupy enough mixture to create afternoon thunderstorms.  For Memorial Day they are forecasting a high of 94ºF with sunny skies….sounds like  a perfect beach day although I probably will not be going.   I still enjoy the beach but I don’t enjoy the heat and humidity so much any more.  🙂 I am thinking…about a site I witnessed last night with my neighbor as we stood outside and talked.  It was around dusk….the sun…

    Outside My Window ~ 5.16.10

Outside My Window…is a beautiful, sun shiny day right now.  Current temperature at 1:20 is in the mid 70’s  with rain expected later this afternoon or evening.  We also have a chance of thunderstorms later.  Thunderstorms have been the norm the past few evenings around here and last night was no exception.  The claps of thunder were so loud they woke me from a very deep sleep….and as each daughter came out of their room this morning they asked if I heard the thunder last night.  It was as if powerful explosions were going off right outside the house…..and then the rains came pouring down.   I am thinking…since I have set…
