Outside My Window ~ 7.29.2012
Outside my window…are the closing hours of my vacation. Back to work tomorrow….I have decided I would like to have time off more often than not. Sigh. It is close to 8:45 in the evening and we are at 79°F with 78% humidity….the dew point is 72° and the winds are calm….sounds lovely outside doesn’t it? {insert sarcastic laughter here} The temperature is cooler than the past several evenings but high humidity is never pleasant, trust me. The rest of the week will be in the mid to high eighties with chances of thunderstorms…pretty typical for this time of year. I spent the past week in South Carolina while they…

Outside My Window ~ 7.15.2012
Outside my window…is a hot and humid Sunday morning although we are inching towards the noon hour. Right now it is 86°F but feels like 94°F. The humidity is at 63% with an expected climb to at least 82% later this afternoon when thunderstorms are expected. I could tell the minute I opened the front door this morning it would be an indoor day today….I could feel the heat through the storm door. There is sunshine, blue skies with some large puffy clouds mixed in…a light, steady breeze moving the leaves on the trees. Our forecast high for today is 90° but is expected to drop down to 77°F when…

Outside My Window ~ 7.8.2012
Outside my window…is an evening inching towards completion. At a little past 10:00 p.m. we have cloudy skies…a fairly steady wind from the north at 14 mph. It is currently 81°F but feels like 84°F. Our forecast low for this evening is 75°F with a 50% chance of thunderstorms….a few may be severe. Our forecast high for tomorrow is our current “feels like” temperature, 84°F…and even though I’m sure the humidity is going to be fairly high, it will feel cooler than the past several days when our heat index has been 109°F to 115°F. I’m hoping some of the forecast rain materializes this week….after all this heat things…

Outside My Window ~ 7.01.2012
Outside my window…is the closing hour of a wild weekend weather wise. It all began on Friday when a very intense and progressive derecho began in the mid-west and traveled cross country to the mid-Atlantic….and it didn’t loose any steam on the way. Our high on Friday was a uncomfortable 100°F. That storm blew in here a little before midnight with high winds, thunder, lightening and an unbelievable amount of rain all at once….it was intense and it was scary. Saturday was another scorcher at around 98°F and more storms that were a little weaker than the night before. Very early this morning I was awakened by what can only…

Outside My Window ~ 6.24.2012
Outside my window…is a beautiful albeit hot day. Blue skies….sunshine….puffy white clouds for the most part. I am noticing some of the clouds are getting darker though….there is a chance for scattered thunderstorms this afternoon. Right now it is 87°F with 47% humidity and a very slight breeze is present….very slight. The low humidity is keeping the heat index at about the same level as our temperature. I’m happy for this warm day….to see the sun shine…but at the same time, it doesn’t feel right either. I’m thinking about…so many things the past 36 or so hours….since I found out my step-father had passed away in the early morning hours…

Outside My Window ~ 6.17.2012
Outside my window…is the closing hours on the final Sunday for Spring 2012. According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac the Summer Solstice will occur on June 20, 2012 at 7:09 p.m.. Next week the view will change outside my window…summer is here. It is almost 6:00 in the evening in Hampton Roads….the sky is mostly cloudy but there are snippets of blue sky and sunshine…and the temperature right now is about 70°F. There is very little chance of rain tonight and for the most part the clouds that are out right now are white and fluffy. It has been a mild and breezy weekend….my wind chimes sang plenty of songs…

Outside My Window ~ 6.10.2012
Outside my window…was a bright, sunshiny day…..blue skies, not a cloud in sight but as I look out now, looks like storm clouds may be building. At almost 4:00 in the afternoon, we are at 88°F with a little over 40% humidity….not very high for this region. I’m not sure if the clouds will amount to anything, the forecast calls for partly cloudy. I have seen it pour rain…for a very long time…when there was only a 30% chance of rain however. This weekend has been considerably warmer than our past week was. We had lots of rain at the beginning of the week and then mild temperatures….it was very…

Outside My Window ~ 5.27.2012
Outside my window…is nearing the end of another Sunday….another Sunday that found me working away until I realized what time it was. I have been editing photos this evening until my eyes are crossing so thought it would be a perfect time to do my weekly post….although I didn’t plan on waiting so late in the evening to do so. We have been enjoying a fabulous Memorial Day weekend thus far….blue skies and sunshine. The forecast has brought all the folks that are anxious to celebrate the unofficial start of summer to our region….en mass….and people who live in the Hampton Roads area know that traveling will be a challenge…

Outside My Window ~ 5.20.12
Outside my window….is dark and working its way to midnight….getting past my bedtime actually but I didn’t want another week to go by without a post. After an extremely busy week last week, it looks as if this week will be a little better….not much, but a little better. 🙂 Right now we are at 64°F with light rain and wind. Wind has been a constant companion pretty much the entire weekend but today was the first day with rain. The chance of rain continues on into tomorrow as well. We don’t expect to see any ill effects from the tropical storm (not sure if it still is now though)…

Outside My Window ~ 5.6.12
Outside my window…Sunday night….end of the weekend….where did the time go? The weekend was filled with some wild weather, work and relaxing in between learning. Friday night came upon us with rumbling thunder, wild and wicked lightening, wind and torrential rains. The weather forecasters had predicted strong storms but I haven’t seen lightening like that in quite some time. It was lighting up the neighborhood….explosions of light that made me nervous each and every time they popped. The storms lasted well into the night. I woke up early Saturday morning to sunshine and warm temperatures. There was sunshine with a healthy does of humidity until early afternoon when the clouds…
